Mibbit is one of software that may help you to connect IRC server and pass your school firewall when port 80 is opened. If you won’t use Mibbit maybe CGI:IRC is the best solution for you. This perl or CGI program will let you access IRC server by pass firewall, this program has interface similiar with GUI IRC clients but when you’re using old web browser you have to update it first.
